Meet Miss Stephanie
I am a married mom of a 4 year-old boy and a 2 year-old girl. I am from a small town in central California. Prior to pursuing a degree in teaching I was in the Human Resources field, where I met my Husband Tim.
Tim and I moved to Arizona in October of 2003 and we have lived in both the east and west valley. I began teaching out of a sheer love for children and the desire to offer a different kind of learning opportunity for the children of the community.
I was in a play group for stay at home moms and during the time we had our play dates, I would bring songs, art projects and games for the children to do. The other moms encouraged me to put my talents to use and teach classes.
As you know Laveen is a small town and doesn’t yet have a community center or many activity options for young children. It was with that in mind that I started a home based classroom for the children in the South Phoenix / Laveen area. I have been teaching the child/caregiver classes for several years and have had a great time with these activities.
After searching for a Preschool for my son, I decided there weren’t enough options for parents so I decided to offer a preschool program in addition to the other classes in my home.
I am a very outgoing person who has a lot of energy and the ability to be very silly and entertaining. I love music, singing and using new materials to create things.
I have always believed in giving of your time and talents to help others, during the last eight years this spirit has driven me to be a volunteer. My passion for children has lead me to different children’s organizations and activities, most with a focus on education. I have had the opportunity to do volunteer work for the following groups:
- Girl Scouts
- Crosswalk Kids
- EAGLE College Prep
- SMART Reading Program
- Madison Elementary School
- Phoenix Children's Hospital
- Laveen Community Council
My background in Early Childhood Development includes over 20 credits of classroom training, observation and education. I am currently enrolled in additional ECD courses, and am in pursuit of the Child Development Associate Credential. I have spent time as a volunteer in various classrooms at the Madison Elementary School in Phoenix and in the after school program at Eagle College Prep in South Phoenix.
For the last year I have been a lead teacher in the preschool program at CrossWalk Church in Phoenix. I continue to provide child / caregiver classes in my home and I am a member of NAEYC (The National Association for the Education of Young Children). I am constantly learning new ways to improve myself both personally and professionally.
Thanks.
